According to the Decision N36 of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Council of Ministers of the USSR and conforming Resolution N247 of the Council of Ministers of BSSR In August 1977, the Belorussian Research Institute of Cardiology was launched in Belarus. It was organized on the basis of the Cybernetic Diagnostics Methods and Biomanagement Problem Scientific and Exploratory Laboratory with the active participation of Professor Sidorenko G.I. who chaired the Institute and managed it until 1993. From 1993 up to 2004 Professor Manak N.А. was the Institute Director. From 2004 to 2008 the RSPCC was managed by Professor Adzerikho I.E. . From 2008 the RSPCC has been directed by Mrochek A.G., the Academician of the Belarusian National Academy of Science.
The structure of Belarusian Research Institute of Cardiology at the beginning of its functioning included 5 labs: Social and Preventive Cardiology Lab, (headed by Zborovsky E.I.), Scientific and Advisory Lab (headed by Pavlova А.I.), Biocontrol and Intensive Therapy Lab (headed by Polonetsky L.Z.), Medical Electronics Lab (headed by Yakubovitch V.М.), Biochemistry Lab (headed by Kamishnikov V.S.).
Later on, new scientific divisions were organized adjusted to the needs of practical healthcare and necessity of further development of scientific researches in cardiology in Belarus. They appeared on the basis of the Scientific and Advisory Lab and are nowadays part of the Clinical Department: Arterial Hypertension Lab (1981, headed by Pavlova А.I.), Myocardial Infarction Patient Rehabilitation Lab (1981, Head Alkhimovitch V.М.), Chronic CHD Lab (1983, headed by Manak N.А.) Cardiac Rhythm Disturbance Lab (1985, headed by Nikitin Y.G.), Radiation Cardiology Lab (1991, headed by Laziuk D.G.), Computer Diagnostics Lab (1992, headed by Mironchik V.V.), Heart Failure Lab (1994, headed by Atroshchenko Е.S.), Biocontrol and Intensive Therapy Lab was re-named as Emergency Cardiology Lab (headed by Polonetsky L.Z.). Medical Electronics Lab was re-named as Medical Information System Lab (headed by Frolov А. V.).
В In 1978 Cardiovascular Surgery Lab was established which later was re-organized in the Cardiovascular Surgery Department (headed by Savchenko А.N.) which included Heart Surgery Lab (1981, headed by Skorniakov V.I.), Symptomatic Hypertension Lab (1985, headed by Krilov V.P.), Vascular Surgery Lab (1993, headed byYanushko V.А.), Miniinvasive and Endovascular Surgery Lab (1999, headed by Makeev V.V.). Heads of the Department: from 1979 to 1992– Savchenko А.N., from 1992 to 1997 – Krilov V.P., from 1997 to 2001– Ostrovsky Y.P.
According to the Decision N1384 of the Council of Ministers of Belarus dated September 5, 2000 and the Order N254 of the Ministry of Public Health of Belarus dated October 20, 2000 the Belarusian research h Institute of Cardiology was re-organized in the Republican Scientific and Practical Centre "Cardiology" including both scientific and clinical subdivisions. As a result of re-organization of the RSPCC the scientific part of the centre consists of 9 labs and a functional group: Cardiac Rhythm Disturbance Lab (headed by the Academician of the Belarusian National Academy of Science Mrochek А.G.), Cardiosurgical and Cardiological Patient Rehabilitation (headed by MD., Professor Sudzhaeva S.G.), Medical Information Technology Lab (headed by MD. Frolov А.V.), Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation Lab (headed by the Candidate of medical Science Konstantinova Е.E.), Clinical Circulation Pathophysiology Functional Group (headed by the Academician Sidorenko G.I.). On January 1, 2005 as a part of the RSPCC the Children’s Cardiosurgical centre was launched. At present the structure of the Centre includes apart from scientific labs the Cardiosurgery Clinic of 75 beds, Resuscitation Departments containing 22 beds, an operational unit, Extracorporeal Circulation Department, and Endovascular Surgery R-operational Department.
